Revolution Analytics Partners With Cloudera To Deliver Comprehensive New Big Analytics Solution

New Solution Integrates R with Cloudera's Distribution Including Apache Hadoop to Deliver Powerful Solution to Tame Big Data

Revolution Analytics, the leading commercial provider of R software, services and support, today announced a partnership with Cloudera, the leading provider of Apache Hadoop-based data management software and services, to deliver a joint solution for Big Analytics that runs R analytics in the Revolution R Enterprise platform on Cloudera's Distribution Including Apache Hadoop (CDH).

"RevoConnectR for Apache Hadoop" is a collection of open-source packages that allows R programmers to access Hadoop HDFS and HBASE data stores in Apache Hadoop directly from R and write MapReduce jobs with R. The packages are now available to download for free from the RHadoop Project on GitHub (https://github.com/RevolutionAnalytics/RHadoop/wiki) and will be commercially supported for Apache Hadoop with Revolution R Enterprise 5.0 Server for Linux.

In recent years, the explosion of enterprise data has necessitated a significant uptick in new data infrastructure investments. Apache Hadoop has emerged as a leading solution for companies looking to store and manage large structured and unstructured data sets. Meanwhile, R has rapidly become the tool of choice for modeling and running advanced analytics. Together, Revolution Analytics and Cloudera deliver one of the most powerful and cost-effective Big Analytics solutions on the market, uniting R with the complete Apache Hadoop stack to streamline and simplify the path to deriving competitive intelligence and actionable insights from the deluge big data.

"The combination of R and Apache Hadoop creates a more powerful analytics solution than what's previously been on the market for big data. R users can now leverage advanced analytics and data stored in Apache Hadoop to tap into more multifaceted dimensions of their data," said Norman Nie, CEO of Revolution Analytics. "R and Hadoop are inherently complementary, but the technology combination has unique technical challenges to overcome to work seamlessly and effectively. Revolution Analytics is pleased to partner with Cloudera to deliver an intuitive solution that bridges these gaps and minimizes complexity to help users realize the potential of R and Apache Hadoop".

"Running advanced analytics on unstructured data has historically been challenging and cost prohibitive. It is not a coincidence that some of the fastest growing businesses in the last decade are the same organizations that invested in infrastructure to model and derive insight from the new classes of data being generated," said Ed Albanese, Head of Business Development at Cloudera. "This solution, which combines the Cloudera Distribution including Apache Hadoop with Revolution Analytics Enterprise R, is about democratizing access to technologies uniquely capable of performing analysis on these new classes of data. Cloudera is pleased to partner with Revolution Analytics to deliver an accessible, integrated analytics solution for unstructured data".

Through its partnership with Cloudera, Revolution Analytics is delivering on its vision and commitment to provide its customers with the flexibility to leverage R-enabled analytics with the data infrastructure platform of their choice. Through RevoScaleR, the data industry's first commercially supported solution that gives open source R the power to scale, Revolution Analytics offers companies the right algorithms and data visualization tools to process large data sets.
