Revolution Analytics Expands into Asia

Company opens Singapore office to deliver big data analytics to Asia Pacific customers

PALO ALTO, Calif.

Revolution Analytics, the leading commercial provider of software, services and support for the open source R project, today announced it has opened a Singapore office to bring the power of big data analytics to Asia Pacific customers. With the support of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and various government agencies in Singapore, the Revolution Analytics Singapore office will serve as the company's Asia Pacific headquarters and development center for next-generation cloud-based big data analytics services.

Revolution Analytics also announced that Singapore Polytechnic's Centre for SME Infocomm Resource (CSIR) has selected Revolution Analytics to use R to train its students and lecturers in advanced analytics. It will also use Revolution Analytics to provide consultancy in advanced predictive analytics to the Singapore SME industry.

"Our new partnership with Revolution Analytics is timely and significant for CSIR at Singapore Polytechnic. Large companies around the world are tapping gold mines of data through analytics tools like R. Big data analytics is becoming essential as a research tool and as an enterprise business tool, and we foresee a wider scale adoption of analytics-as-a-service amongst SMEs," said Dr. Peter Leong, centre director at CSIR. "From an education angle, our researchers are exploring R&D in the form of learning analytics. R&D in the Internet of Things is also being explored, as this will generate massive amounts of data for analysis by big data analytics tools like R. Our students will also have the opportunity to be trained in this cutting-edge big data technology."

The open source R programming language, and its community of more than two million users, is the catalyst fueling the adoption of next-generation analytics. It will enable enterprise data scientists to develop innovative new statistical models and algorithms that can achieve unprecedented levels of business insight.

A joint study by the MIT Sloan Management Review and the IBM Institute for Business Value showed that enterprises using analytics were twice as likely to outperform industry peers. The IDA has identified cloud computing and data analytics among its strategic growth areas for the Singapore ICT industry. It is dedicated to building a vibrant ICT ecosystem to foster the creation of innovative services, attract cutting-edge companies and build knowledge capital and new employment opportunities.

"Singapore is an emerging technology leader that is uniquely suited to capitalize on the growing market for big data analytics," said David Rich, Revolution Analytics CEO. "Revolution Analytics is committed to working with CSIR and other organizations and government agencies to make Singapore a world-class analytics center of excellence. We are thrilled to have launched operations in Singapore and have been impressed by the warm welcome and support we've received from Singapore authorities and organizations."
